Mrzygłód

Fragment of Stepan Nisiewicz's memoirs about the murders of Ukrainians in Dobra Szlachecka by various armed formations of the Republic of Poland:
I remember beating one of ours in Dobra. Again, it was about a hate of Ukraine. The boy wouldn't say that.
— «Look, and this one cannot speak, help him with a rifle».
Finally, they told the boy:
— «Ukraine is gone»,
but that was not enough. They wanted the neighbors to hear it, maybe the whole village, because they started beating again and shouting:
— «Loud! Even louder, scream! So that all thugs can hear!».
Whoever did not want to shout, they killed him. This is how Hryhorij Gbur died — 46, Petro Burdiak — 37, Mykoła Pankewycz — 32, Szczurko Jurko — 33, Mykoła Demkowycz — 34, Andrij Hynko — 20, Myrosław Demkowycz — 28, Kateryna Gbur — 36. At the police station, they tormented the Tyrawski couple — Petra, 28 and Paraska, 38  […]
From the Zamahura hamlet in Dobrzany, they took, for example [as one of many] 63‑year‑old Semek Tyrawski, who was grazing the cows near the house. The next morning, his wife Sofija went to Mrzygłód, but also did not come back. The trace of her was lost, but her old man the San river washed ashore near Ulucz

Mrzygłód

Fragment of Stepan Nisiewicz's memoirs about the murders of Ukrainians in Dobra Szlachecka by various armed formations of the Republic of Poland:
After the front had passed in 1944, we saw signs of what started to happen among Poles. Great joy prevailed in Mrzygłód — «Poland is free!». Joy mixed with vodka did not end for a long time  […] The commandant [MO] from Mrzygłód every now and then sends someone to Ukrainian villages for ducks and moonshine. Don't buy — rob!  […] If there was nothing to do, the participants of the libations would go to our villages and rob. What irritated them most were embroidered shirts, everything that was embroidered, torn or stepped into the mud  […]
Until such an event finally happened. At the end of April, Poles went to the rather inaccessible hamlet of Zakoszków for a loot. Suddenly, out of nowhere — shots! There were six Poles, and there are already four, two are killed.
After that, even more young people went to the militia in Mrzygłód, making even more small quick trips. It was no longer simple robbery though, but rather vengeance, beating, breaking jaws, breaking ribs. They often took people to their station and beat them on the way, saying: this is for the Poles in the Borderlands, and for our two. At the station, there were chair legs, clubs, rubbers  […] The walls were red with blood, so there were also victims.
The following were martyred in Mrzygłód: Roman Nisiewicz — 22 years old, Petro Demkowicz — 20 years old, Mytro Hryćkowycz — 24 years old, four others died at home after leaving the police station, and these were: Mychajło Hryćko — 26 years old, Wasyl Demkowycz — 23 years old, Jarosław Grump — 21 years old, Volodymyr Uhryn — 24 years old
”.
