Mokre

Fragment of Mychajł Hrynia's memoirs concerning the murders of 5 Ukrainians in the village of Mokre by Polish Army soldiers:
Another time, the military shot 50‑year‑old Maria Barniak  […]
And yet another beat 58‑year‑old Andrija Romancio. They tormented him a lot, and as a result he did not recover and he died  […]
It happened at the end of April 1946, a day I do not remember. In the morning, as soon as it was light, an armored train arrived, some of the soldiers unloaded in Morochów, and some in the middle of Mokre, where the railway crosses the village. They immediately started chasing people to the station  […] The soldiers entered our house and one of them said to my 75‑year‑old grandfather (my mother's father):
— «Dude, get ready».
And my grandfather, an invalid from World War I, did not know Polish, he was also a bit deaf. He leaned on his cane and asked the soldier,
— «What, sir?»
Then the soldier killed him with a shot straight in the forehead. Grandfather's name was Ivan Ostrowski.
Not far from us, two houses away, they shot 82‑year‑old Marija Płatosz
”.

Fragment of Mychajł Hrynia's memoirs concerning the murders of 5 Ukrainians in the village of Mokre by Polish Army soldiers:
In 1945 things went their own way. Our men went to liberate Poland, and the Poles armed themselves and began attacking our villages  […] In Mokry, 81‑year‑old Josyf Gerent was walking along a cross–country path to his daughter in Zawadka [Morochowska]. Lieutenant Michalski rode up to him on a horse and shot a burst of machine guns in his head”.
