description

general info

Michałówka

The UPA and Ukrainian peasants murdered 58 Poles using axes, forks, shovels, hoes and other tools. „The brother–in–law ran away, they shot him, his son was 18 years old, he spread his hands and asked «beloved people, I didn't do anything to you, I'm innocent», they accused him of a rope around his neck and stabbed him with a pitchfork until he fell. My tests were martyred. The father–in–law was killed with a scythe, and the mother–in–law was slit with a sickle. My husband's sister with two daughters and two neighbor's boys somehow managed to escape, one got an ax in the head, lost consciousness and lay between the corpses for two days, they found him when they came to cover the body. Poles saved themselves as much as they could, they only saved lives, there was no time to think about any property, many did not manage to do so, they died like flies. Kwiatkowski andrzej, escaped to Kowel. His son Franek, although he was 16, joined the Home Army, while Andrzej's wife and second son died at the hands of the Ukrainians – 2 people. Kurz, his wife and six children, 8 people killed. Mroczkowska and her son killed – 2 people. Jacek Teodór, his wife and two children were killed, 3 children escaped to Kowel – 4 people. Kwiatkowski Jan and his son Józef killed – 2 people. Skałuba anastazja and Jan killed – 2 people. Kwiatkowska Ewa with her two daughters, 10 and 13 years old, and from a neighbor, boys 9 and 11 years old, ran away, the Ukrainians chased them 6 km after them. They managed to run into the forest. She lived for a few more years because she became mentally ill. Kwiatkowski Piotr with his wife, daughter Helena 16 years old, son Mieczysław 20 years old and little Stasio died – 5 people. Januszewska Eugenia and her two small children 5 years old and the second breast sucked in a brutal way, they chopped off their heads with a spade, they left the baby alive, she lay next to her for two more days and suckled on her breast. In two days, when they were burying the body, they threw the dead ones down together with the dead mother and buried them – 3 people”.
