The UPA caught Poles in the village and the surrounding area who would come to their farms for food, chased them to a barn and burned 81 Poles. „Grandmother with two daughters–in–law and grandchildren decided to return to Miedwedówka, where the unfinished house of my uncle stood – said Walentyna Czajka. – Many other people followed in their footsteps, escaping the refugee–filled Stara Huta and from typhus. Only one woman from the entire village survived, who was saved by the fact that she lay down in the snow in the field and covered it with a white sheet”.
