The Ukrainians hacked two Polish families of 11 people with axes: children of a married couple named Malec: 1‑year‑old Janina Helena, 4‑year‑old Antoni, 6‑year‑old Teresa, 7‑year‑old Genowefa and 8‑year‑old Czesław, and a forester Mazurek with his wife and 2 daughters 19 and 24 (married Genowefa Rembisz), while Katarzyna Malec, 36 and 14‑year‑old Stanisława Malec, died of wounds inflicted on them in the hospital in Sarny on February 5, 1943.
