1945 April 9 — Fragment of the report of the interrogation of the arrested secretary of the Bircza commune, Włodzimierz Wasylkiewicz  […] :
On March 18, 1945 at At 6 pm in the village of Leszczawa Górna, my sister, Olga Małecka, c/o Antoni (maiden name Wasylkiewicz), a Pole, born in 1912, was hanged in the village of Leszczawa Górna. The Banderites allegedly hanged her. I was informed about my sister's hanged by a policeman from the Bircza police station, Laszkiewicz around 12 at night. So I went to the militia commander, Sergeant Wróbel, asking him to send militiamen to Leszczawa Górna in order to save my sister, but the commandant of the Bircza police station did not agree to go at night and promised to send a patrol in the morning”.

In retaliation for [the murder of UPA on March 18 on three Poles] by the Militia authorities 26 Ukrainian houses were burned in Leszczawa Górna on 19 March and a few people from the local Ukrainian inhabitants were shot, and moreover, 7 people from other villages: Jureczkowa and Wojtkowa  […]

1945 April 9 — Fragment of the interrogation report of the arrested secretary of the Bircza commune Włodzimierz Wasylkiewicz  […] :
Question: — «You were arrested as a participant in the murders, looting and setting fire to the huts of Ukrainians living in the village of Leszczawa Górna. Please tell me about it».
Answer: — «On the morning of March 19, 1945, 15 policemen from the Bircza station and 12 from Leszczawa Dolna, under the command of Chief Sergeant Wróbel, left for Leszczawa Górna. I arrived there with the lieutenant of the Polish army, Osypenko, and a policeman from the police station in Bircza, Dymkiewicz, about three hours after the militia. When you came to Leszczawa Górna, about 10 Ukrainians were killed in the place where my sister was hanged. The Polish militia shot them. In the center of the village there were huts set on fire by Polish policemen from Bircza and the village of Wojtkowa. My sister was no longer at the place where she was hanged, because the commandant of the police station in Wojtkowska sent the submarine with the body to Wojtkowska. I caught up with her near the church in Leszczawa Górna and headed for Bircza. Later I went to the village administrator, Stefan Popiel, where we drank wine with the commander of the Wojtków station, second lieutenant Zarański, and the policemen Soroka, Stasicki and Nachman»
”.

1945 April 9 — Fragment of the report of the interrogation of the arrested Jerzy Zarański, the commander of the MO post in Wojtkowa  […] :
Question: — «Please tell me about the events of March 19, 1945».
Answer: — «One of the militia informants informed that there was a band of Bandera followers in the village of Leszczawa Górna. I informed the police station in Bircza about this and we agreed with the commander that I and my policemen would surround the village on one side, and he on the other, because Leszczawa Górna lies between Wojtkowa and Bircza. On March 19, I sent 9 policemen and I took two with me. The village was already quiet. I met the commander of the militia, Wróbel, with him was Lieutenant Osypenko. Later, carts from Wojtkowa came with 16 detained Ukrainians who were hiding from the incorporation of the Red Army. When the carts pulled up to the tree on which Olga Wasylkiewicz was hanged, I stopped the carts, and when they all got off, I chose five young men, put the others in a row and ordered them to be shot. The order was carried out by a policeman from Bircza named Wacek. The carts with the other young men went to Przemyśl. Then the policemen, together with the brother of the hanged woman, Wasylkiewicz, started to burn houses of peaceful residents and shoot the people and upwards, as a result 25 huts were burned down»
”.
