Koziatyn

[The Ukrainians] murdered 19 Poles, including entire families. „In the locality Koziatyn, county Horochów, Podberezie commune, my grandparents Bronisław and Jadwiga Komarnicki née Gołębiowska lived. They had 4 daughters Irena, Maryla, Janina and Mirosłwa. Bronisław's brother Władysław Komarnicki and his wife Stanisława and their 4‑year‑old son Edzio lived in the same town. My grandparents, Bronisław and Jadwiga, as well as Stasia and her son Edzio died in the murders. My mother, Irena, together with Janina and Mirosław, were in Warsaw at that time, fearing the risk of deportation (according to my mother's account). One of Maryla's daughters was in Koziatyn during the murders and she managed to escape — she hid in the crops and in the morning she crawled home, saw her father dead and ran away (at least two Ukrainian families helped her escape). I have two letters from that period — one from Stasi (with a note from little Edzia) describing the fear and constant «night visits of guests» after which, for example, panes were missing in some of the windows. In the neighboring town — my grandfather's sister Wanda lived in Laszki, the wife of my uncle Władysław Czerkawski — unfortunately I have no information about their fate”.

W. and E. siemaszko., pp. 179‑180 report that on July 11, 1943 the UPA murdered 16 Poles. They do not mention Jadwiga Komarnicka née Gołębiowska (wife Bronisław), Stanisława Komarnicka (wife Władysław and her 4‑year‑old son Edward.).
