Kopcze Czeskie
Ukrainian „insurgents” murdered a Polish–Czech family of 4 teachers: they tied a Czech, head of school in Kopcz Czeski, Karol Taraba by the neck and dragged him behind a wagon, on which they took his wife, Elżbieta, a teacher in Kopcz to the forest to the place of execution Ruskie and their two little daughters.

At the end of our stay in Armatniów, we learned about the tragedy in the nearby village of Kopcze. It was a Czech village that lived peacefully, because the Ukrainians, I don't know why, tolerated the Czechs. A teacher–friendly couple, Ela and Karol Tarab, with their three young children, lived there. Mrs. Ela was Polish, but as a Czech wife she felt safe in Kopcze. As it turned out – wrongly. They spotted her there as well. How much stubbornness and unconscious hatred do you need to come to the village for one, defenseless woman, just because she is Polish, try to take her from home with three children, graciously offering her husband freedom and life. As Mr. Karol did not take advantage of the offer, he was killed first. The children were tortured in front of Mrs. Eli, who was finally raped and killed. Czech friend, who informed my mother about this atrocious event, knew the names of the torturers. He promised to reveal them after the war, but I don't know if he did. I cried for a long time after the death of the Tarab family, I liked their clean, well–kept house, warmly welcoming, their sons Wiesio and Romek. However, I felt sorry for little, only three‑year‑old Bogusia. Was the martyrdom of the Tarabians and their children necessary for the liberation of Ukraine and its independence?
