„Ukrainian insurgents” arrested and murdered 8 Poles: nun Longina (Sr. Wanda Trudzińska) and 7 pupils, boys aged 10–12, orphans from the Orphanage in Turkowice. They were going on a derezine to get food and noticed a burning church in the village of Modryń, got out to save the painting from the altar and were captured by the UPA. They also murdered an orphan, a Ukrainian boy, to get rid of a witness to the crime. „On May 14, 1944 in Turkowice, sister Longina (Wanda Trudzińska) was captured together with 7 boys aged 10–12 by the Ukrainians and the next day on May 15 they were shot in the forest in Modryń, they probably dug a grave” earlier.
