Mr Janusz Kopij' account:
„The described events, which I know very well from family accounts, took place in the fall of 1941 and not in 1943.
[In many accounts of the events] my grandfather's name is not stated correctly, because it was Boleslaus Kopij who was kidnapped and murdered, not Felix.
In the years 1930‑1941, Boleslaus Kopij was an overseer in the forest settlement of Łopaten, which belonged to prince Janusz Radziwiłł.
I would like to inform that I have the knowledge directly from my grandmother Julia née Calko, wife of Boleslaus, who told me the story of my grandfather's death numerous times, and from my father Stanislaus Kopij (son of Boleslaus).
They were eyewitnesses of Grandpa's abduction — under the pretext of helping in the transport of timber to Cumań — where he was arrested by the Ukrainian police, held captive in the so‑called Island and executed.
Wife Julia started searching in Cumań, Olyka — to no avail. An eyewitness was also the engine driver of the railway locomotive, Mr. Anthony Pastuszek.
This event was described in the memoirs of Anthony 's son, Casimir, now residing in Wrocław, in Felix Trusiewicz's book «Hawrylko», pp. 210‑221, published by the «Wołanie z Wołynia» Library, vol. 131.
Boleslaus's wife, Julia, with her children Stanislaus, Marta and Mary, warned of the imminent danger, left Łopaten and went to her cousin across the Bug River, to Nadburzanka”.

Gamekeeper Feliks Kopij was kidnapped and taken by the Ukrainians by railroad under the pretext of helping to transport timber towards Cumania. Despite the searches, all traces of him were lost.
