Kamionka
Bishop Jan Bagiński was born in the village of Kamionka in the Volhynia province. In 1943, when Ukrainian nationalists murdered the Polish inhabitants of the town, he was 11 years old. – The fact that I am talking to you now is due to our neighbor Makar Najstruk – says the bishop. In the evening, Najstruek's daughter came running to the Bagiński house. She said her father sent her. The Bandera followers have gathered in their house and intend to attack Polish houses at night. If the Bagiński family want to live, they should run away quickly. The family immediately left the village. Only great–grandmother remained, who said that her old woman's „would not be moved by”. – That night the Poles were slaughtered. The great–grandmother was stabbed to death and our neighbors were hacked with axes. Among others, the Burakowski family, related to us, died. A 12‑year‑old girl tried to run away, The Ukrainians caught her in the field. – says the clergyman.

These were people from other towns, belonging to the Bandera followers. Of course, that tragic night, when the small Polish colony of Kamionka was already destroyed and murdered, began with the fact that in the house of Ukrainian neighbors, a plan was being prepared to exterminate Polish families. This Ukrainian neighbor dared to send his teenage daughter to us to tell us to run away immediately, because we would die that night. Without thinking, we packed up and ran towards the town of Bystrzyce on the Słucz River, because the Germans were still stationed there. At this stage, they were still defending us. On the way to Bystrzyce, when we passed the village of Rudnia Pohoryłowska, we were warned by a Ukrainian farmer who had a house by the road: you will not get away with it, they are on horseback, they will catch up with you and kill you, so it will be better, how will you hide in my barn behind the straw. I don't know how long we waited there, but it actually happened as this man predicted. A dozen or so armed men were rushing towards Bystrzyca along the road they assumed we were escaping. Of course, when he was sitting or standing by the fence, when asked if he had seen the Bagiński family, he said: yes, I have seen it, it's been a while, you have to go fast if you want to catch them in front of Bystrzyca. They rushed as fast as they could. Of course, when they didn't catch us, they came back. They ate a meal at the farmer's house, he bought them vodka, and they left. Then we left the barn and headed towards Bystrzyca, thanks to which our family was saved. We, another family before that, escaped from my village. They killed the rest. They surrounded our neighbors and murdered everyone including the family of my grandmother – Burawski, seven people. Only our great–grandmother did not want to run away from our family. She said such an old woman would not be killed. She didn't want to come with us. They killed her.

According to Siemaszko (pp. 264–265), 10 UPA came to Prokop Majstruk on July 23, 1943 with an order to kill all the Poles in Kamionka, but he got them drunk and his wife warned the Poles. For this help, they murdered 8 of their compatriots, Ukrainians, including 2 children. They also say that they later murdered the Burawski family and Michalina Bagińska, 82, and in 1943 the Brzozowski and Burawski (Burakowski) families.
