Fragment of Tekla Mała's memoirs about the murder of a Ukrainian, Mykołaj Pałyński, in Jawornik by soldiers of the Polish Army:
My brother's name was Mykołaj, he was younger. The army was still visiting us. People were running away. Once [the soldiers] go again in the morning  […] [Then] my brother went to my house and told my husband to go get the rags, because the army would take them, and they were hidden under the branches. And one of Przybyszów ran away near them. When he saw them, he told them to flee, because the army. And the army immediately arrived. My brother threw away the backpack he had earned in Germany and began to run away. Again, one soldier started to follow him and shoot. He caught him like that from a kilometer. The brother ran to the fir tree, who caught up with him and says:
«You s… of a b…, banderite! ».
And he gave him three bullets, took everything from the backpack
”.
