The Banderites murdered 18 Poles, while 50 Home Army AK partisans were killed in the fight against the UPA (including two seriously wounded commanders „Zawisza” and „Malik” committed suicide not wanting to get into Ukrainian hands); losses of the Polish population in the villages of Podlodów, Rokitno, Szlatyn and Żerniki have not been established.

On 5.4.44 our units „Hałajda” and „Tyhry” conducted a liquidation action mainly against the colonies: Gubynok, Łubcze, Poledów and Żerniki. In this way they cleared the right wing to be able to hit the main nests: Posad and Steniatyn. „Hałajda” and „units” Tires first entered the colony of Łubcze. Poles did not expect and took them for their own. It was only when „Tyhry” set fire to the neighboring Gubynok colony that they realized and began to counteract by circling our unit. The fight has begun. The Poles were forced to flee to Żerniki. Then 1 heavy machine gun, several rifles and a lot of ammunition were obtained. In Poledów, our troops regrouped and attacked Żerniki. The enemy of 100 people took up positions behind the farm next to the heaps. After half an hour of shooting, the Poles were forced to flee further. On the battlefield, the enemy left the dead, among them the „commander Zawisza” (it resulted from the notes found with him) and regrouped towards the Posadow forest. While chasing the enemy, „Hałajda” unit helped „Prolom”, who was in a difficult situation due to the late action of the previous units. After the destruction of the Rokitno „colony, Prołom” took up positions along the narrow–gauge tracks, but was in a disadvantageous situation, because the Poles from the Posadow forest, taking the hill, fired „Prołom” with machine guns. The unit had to maneuver under enemy fire and retreat. This, however, cost some casualties. But it was at this moment that „Czornoty” from the „Hałajda” unit relieved its people and by shielding them with fire enabled them to retreat without major losses. Thus, in action from 5.4.44, the colonies of Gubynok, Poledów, Łubcze and Rokitno were destroyed. Obtained: 1 Heavy Machine Gun, Rifles, Equipment, Archives and Ammunition. Besides, the „Łysa” self–defense unit destroyed the colonies of Marysin and Radków, and the „Orła” unit destroyed the Polish colonies in Rzeplin. Dozens of Polish soldiers and many civilians died. Own losses: 11 killed (including 3 nurses) and 14 wounded. Surowiec Antoni murdered on April 12/13, 1944 near the village of Chodywaniece. [In 1943, three Ukrainian nationalists were shot for cooperation with the invader in the persecution of Poles: Witryna Iwan, the mayor of the Jaraczów commune, Bodnar Jakub, his successor, and NN – the head of a Ukrainian cooperative].

Myrosław Onyszkewycz „Orest Karat” gave the order: „I order you to purge your area immediately from the Polish element and Ukrainian–Bolshevik agents. The purge should be carried out in riverside hostels sparsely populated by Poles. To this end, create a militia near the area, composed of our members, whose task would be to eliminate the above–mentioned. Our larger hostels will be cleared of this element by our military units even in broad daylight  […] The clearing of the area must be completed before our Easter so that we can celebrate it without Poles. Remember that when the Bolsheviks find us with Poles in our territory, they will slaughter us all  […] Make a hard, ruthless fight with them. Not to spare anyone, even in mixed marriages. To take Lachs out of their houses, but The Ukrainians and children in these houses should not be liquidated  […] Get the gun. Death to the Poles. Stop, April 6, 1944. Glory to the heroes! Orest, Karat” This order is in the files of the investigation against Myroslav Onyshhevych.
