13.II. Hucisko Brodzkie. On Sunday, during the Holy Mass, a gang of 600 people attacked. The Poles defended themselves for 2 hours, German soldiers from Wołoch came to the rescue with 3 tanks. The gang consisted of The Ukrainians from Volhynia (including the commander who died) and local peasants from the villages of: Baratyn, Hołybica, Pieniaki. The gang lost +/– 100 people (the deac and brothers Martyniuki and Litowiak were among the fallen). After the attack, the Poles fled to Brody, only the elderly remained at home.

Kulińska L., Roliński A.: The anti–Polish action of Ukrainian nationalists in Eastern Lesser Poland in the light of the documents of the Central Welfare Council 1943–1944, Kraków 2003, on p. 359 indicate that there were 150 Polish victims in total; Władysław Kubów lists 57 victims, ranging from 9–month–old Jan Olszański to 90‑year‑old Janina Hanicka.
