My step grandfather was Ignacy Bukowiecki, who was married to Antonina. After the war (until 1967), he searched for his wife and daughter, but could not locate them.
In January 1947 relatives in Poland wrote to Antonina’s sister in Canada, saying that she had been murdered and there were 19 other victims killed a the same time [letter of 07.02.1947, copy in GTKRK records].
Ignacy then communicated with his wife’s sister in Canada and they told him that both Antonina and their daughter Krystyna had perished in 1942 [letter of 24.04.1946, copy in GTKRK records].
The dates might not be accurate [«1942 in Bołszowce near Halicz» as the date and place of death metions the letter of 15.10.1971 from Polish Catholic Mission, London, Devonia Road; Bołszowce is a place c. 6 km from Herbutoce; copy of the correspondence in GTKRK records], but I would not want Krystyna Bukowiecka (aged 4 or 5) to completely disappear from the records hence my reason for contacting you in relation to your database
”.
