Grobelka
On January 17, 1944, the inhabitants of Hucisko watched the glow north of Czernica. They also saw fire and smoke rising over the forest. It was Grobelka, the hamlet of Czernica and Zalesie, just behind Czernica and Suchowola. Nobody had any doubts that Poles were murdered there. The next day we found out that the Polish people living in these villages had been massacred. It was already a large–scale crime. The Banderites were more cruel. They threw living people into the burning buildings, others had their throats cut. The dam was completely burnt. There, the houses of Poles did not border directly the homesteads of Ukrainians, so they were burned after the murder of the Poles.
