The UPA murdered over 20 Poles: the family of mayor Franciszek Paszkowski (parents with a daughter and son, 12‑year‑old daughter Genia, who had several wounds from knife stabs in the back), and a dozen or so at the bridge on the Korczyk River.

From the account of Genowefa née Paszkowska: „On that tragic day, his sister Michalina also visited my grandfather. Genia's eldest sister was already married: she married a young teacher, Klemens Bodus. Because she was pregnant and in dangerous times, they moved with Klemens behind Korczyk to Horodnica. as it turned out, this decision saved their lives. June 17, 1943 – a tragic date. «The warning system» alerted: carts with banders were driving from the side of Budki Ujścieńskie. It was the evening hours. Grandma Frania recommended that my grandfather and Kazik should run away to grain – «they will do nothing to women». Grandfather, however, decided – we stay together. First, they killed a dog barking in the yard. «Where your» possessions roared the torturers. They murdered at the well, killing Grandma Frania, Michalina and seriously injuring (17 stab wounds) little 12‑year‑old Gienia. Lonia tried to outsmart them: «I will show you where the good hidden». When the torturers started looking behind the barn, Lonia ran away like a deer towards the river. But it was too deep. They caught her and killed her in the yard. Later, Grandpa and Kazik were found dead in the crop. The dead face of (Franciszka) with a grimace of pain testified that his son Kazik had been killed first. Gienia, badly injured, heard that they wanted to bury the bodies. finish me off! She felt the blade digging into her back for the 17th time. there was darkness and silence. The night chill woke Genia. She crawled home to bed. a glass of milk – too heavy to reach for it again. The one who informed the family of the village administrator about the danger was my grandfather's nephew – also Franek. There was no time to escape – the carts were already entering the yard. The boy jumped over the fence and hid in the cannabis growing there. Only the next morning, hearing familiar voices, did he dare to reveal himself. It was Franek who was taking the wounded Genia by wagon to Horodnica to the German military hospital”.
