On August 12, 1943, while in the city of Dubno, in the company of senior sergeant 43 pp. I saw the murdered P. Bronowski. The mother and two children aged 9 and 5, the father was burned alive in his own home, the children had their eyes, ears and tongues cut off, the mother had her breast cut off with a broken head, and there were many marks on the body from blows with a blunt and sharp instrument. Anyway, many similar chilling scenes and many victims stated and emphasized the barbarity of the perpetrators, remembering the Poles of Volhynia for centuries. For the intervention of the Polish element, the German government formed 7 companies of the Polish militia, and after a month, 4 companies were dismissed and sent to work in Germany, while the remaining companies were used properly for their purposes, insuring the main road – „of the Kiev–Lviv” highway – and intercity roads.
