(in the vicinity)

The SB‑OUN militia murdered Józef Juryst, whom she abducted on May 3 from his workplace in the forest. On May 6, 1944, he was interrogated by the SB‑OUN. Probably on the same day he was murdered. The place where the body was hidden has not been found. J. Jurysta, b. 22 March 1919 in Pacław. A Pole, of Roman Catholic religion, before 1939 he received the rank of Cpr. WP reserves (?). During the Soviet occupation, he worked in the Finance Department in Przemyśl. During the German occupation, he was wanted by the Ukrainian police, and therefore he was in hiding. From 1943, he worked as an apprentice in a liegenschaft in Podliska, county Mostyska. J. Jurysta formed a team of the Home Army in Podliska and then commanded it. On April 30, 1944, he was denounced to the German occupation authorities. As a result, he quit his current job and lived in his hometown, in Pacław. On May 2, 1944, he started working as a manipulator in a sawmill in Dobromil. SB‑OUN investigated him.

Dobromil

The fate of Roman Pietrusiewicz was tragic. As a child of several years, he witnessed the murder of his parents – Józef and Franciszka (née Kowalski) – by Ukrainian nationalists. Apart from him, also his grandmother, Maria Pietrusiewicz, survived the pogrom, and decided to leave Dobromil and flee the UPA bands marching in the area to a safer place.
