Dłużniów
February 12, 1946, [typescript] — Fragments of the report of interrogation of a witness to the murder by Polish Army soldiers on Ukrainians in Dłużniów, carried out by an employee of the Security Service of the V District II District of the Zakerzonya Region 'Czumak':
„On February 12, 1946 at 3 p.m. Polish Army carried out an attack on the village of Dłużniów. The fighters were walking on the bench, shooting hard, to the village, which they had previously fired with a mortar. After entering the village with a loud scream and shouting, they immediately set fire to the first house on the shore. This, however, did not satisfy them. After all, they came here to be remembered by their insane deeds. And that is why they went from house to house with bunches of burning straw and set fire to them. In one moment, part of the village burst into flames and within an hour, 56 buildings ceased to exist, including 23 houses, 22 stables, 11 barns […]
They behaved similarly towards civilians. Mostly, they shot civilians, although they recognized them clearly. They did not pay attention to the old man, woman or child. As people were afraid to leave their houses, the Polish Army fired at the houses through the windows and threw grenades. As a result, Kudraj Volodymyr, 30, suffocated in the hideout, and 7 people were injured […] There was no more or less beaten person in the village. Whoever did not hide, had to suffer harassment from the crazy Polish Army. Three people died soon after the beating: Pidsudko Toma, 75, Łatynnyk Danyło, 46, Bartoszek Jakiw, 53”.
