general info

Czudwy

The Ukrainians murdered 6 Poles, including a small child who smashed his head hitting the wall. „I was known to Dąbrowski Stanisław, he lived – the village of Czudwy on the Horynia River, commune Temporary. There were 2 Polish families in that village, and about 90 Ukrainian families. They assured Dąbrowski that in their village no hair would fall off anyone's head. One day Dąbrowski went to the mill, also to a Pole named Brocik Franciszek, wife and d/o Lodz. The entire Brocik family was murdered by the bulboes. Dąbrowski brought flour from the mill, because his wife had to bake bread. When Dąbrowska was about to knead the bread, she gave the child to her husband. Maria from Dąbrowska noticed a group of bulbows. They come into the apartment and ask where he went. He replied that he had gone to the mill to grind rye into flour. Then the child was taken from his hand. They threw against the wall. Dąbrowska started to cry. A Ukrainian hit her. They led Dąbrowski to the yard and tied his hands with wire. Dąbrowska saw that the child was dead, her husband was murdered, and she ran away through the window. Near the house there was a swamp and a bog. They started shooting after her. She fell. The Bulbowskis thought they had hit her. She spent half a day in this marsh until dark. During the darkness 4 kilometers, she came to her parents at Borówka, and she told her about it. It was in the month of March. I was also in Borówka that day, when I found out about it. Romaniuk Antoni and his whole family were leaving Borówka. When he passed the colony, on his way to the forest, the whole family was executed”.
