general info

Czuczmany

At the beginning of 1945, Kupiak's militia together with Diżak's „Czarnota” attacked the village of Czuczmany, where Włodzimierz Kokor, wife Jarosław and their children, Bogdan 6, Zenon 4 and one‑year‑old Maria, sister Jarosław Kokor, Maria Czuczman and her were murdered child. Their property was plundered and their cottage burned. Testimony of the witness Włodzimierz Pałyga: „Włodzimierz Kokor's family lived in the neighborhood. In the evening of that day, I visited her. The house was attended by Kokor, his wife Jarosław, three children, Bogdan, Zenon and Maria, as well as Jarosława's sister with her little daughter Hania. Suddenly, three bandits stormed the hut. When they found out that I was a neighbor, they ordered me to leave the apartment. I went to my house and watched in secret. Heard a few shots then the bandits took things out and loaded them on the sleigh they came with. They led out the cow, heifer, and then lit all the buildings. On the next day, the whole village would come to see the burnt bodies. On a tree, the bandits left an inscription on a large piece of paper: «Whoever goes to serve for the Red army, the same family will meet»”.
