Czaszyn
Fragment of the report of the political clerk of the V region in the 'Beskid' region, Mychajła Dziman 'Łewki', about the murder of Ukrainians in the hamlet of Czaszyn Brzozowiec by soldiers of the Polish Army:
„On March 28, 1946, at 2 p.m. to the village of Brzozowiec in the Sanok district with a forest and 300 soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces WP attacked the road from Kulaszny's side and immediately began to burn down the first houses from the forest. While they were smoking, they asked about the nationality […] Whoever tried to escape was shot at. They also shot between burning houses to prevent the residents from saving their property. During the operation, 38 farms were burnt, along with farm buildings and all property. 6 Polish houses remained.
[WP] shot:
1. Osypa Sowa — 24 years old, an invalid of the Red Army, who was plowing in a field;
2. Kateryna Hryndio — 43 years old, burned in a fire;
3. Mykola Kril — 38 years old, murdered;
4. Marija Hryndio — 70s, burned alive in fire.
23 horses and one cow were robbed. During the smoking, the soldiers said that they were burning the «Banderites' nest»”.

Czaszyn
Excerpt from Anna Zazula's memoirs about the murder of Ukrainians in the village of Czaszyna Brzozowiec by soldiers of the Polish Army:
„In 1946, Poles were already burning villages and murdering people. We didn't know what to do, because nobody told us, and on March 29, 1946, Poles came from Kulaszny. We didn't have time to take anything with us because they all ran away. Our house was the last one from Czaszyn, people ran away shouting:
— «Run away, because they are burning the village and murdering it!».
We ran away, but mum and grandma stayed, thinking they would save something. 15‑year‑old brother Włodko, 13‑year‑old brother Sławko and the youngest, 6‑year‑old brother took the horse and went to Łuków. Sister Marijka went to Łukowy in the morning with her 10‑year‑old sister. I was the last one to escape. I remember my grandmother saying:
— «Run away, children, I won't see you anymore!».
She had such a feeling, although no one would have thought that [the Poles] would murder old people. The Poles broke in, they took everything away, they released the feathers from the new quilts and took away the funnels. There was nothing left but what we were wearing. The house did not want to burn, so they threw a grenade that tore Grandma's body apart. Mother was slaughtered in the orchard with knives, she had five bullet holes in her body, her head was as black as coal. The grandmother's name was Marija Hryndio, she was born in 1875, and my mother was Kateryna Hryndio, born in 1900.
An older woman, Anna Hryndio, from 1900, was also killed then, running after cows.
Mychajło Kudlik from 1917 was then returning home from Czaszyn, but he was beaten as if they had swept him, and so they took him to Jaworzno, where he died.
Josyp Sowa from 1923 was just released from the hospital, because he was wounded at the front, he was returning from the field with a plow and was also murdered.
Grandma, mother, Josyp Sowa, Anna Hryndio and Mykhailo Kril were buried in Czaszyn. More people would have been murdered, but they fled into the forest”.
