Ciuchowy Dział

The gamekeeper Solarski was murdered, „was murdered by «Boyka» from Orów, who, with pitchforks and axes, circled the forester's house. Solarski, while firing a shotgun at the bandits, defended himself for several hours until the last round was fired. When the shots died down, the Ukrainians, cutting out the doors and windows with their axes, caught up with the unfortunate man, inflicting several blows with axes and scythes «upright»”.

general info

Ciuchowy Dział

Ukrainians from the village of Orów murdered 29‑year‑old gamekeeper Solarski. „Ukrainian tryzub resunas went crazy, murdered entire Polish villages, and did not neglect the opportunity for individual murders around Borysław. One concerned my friend, a worker of the state forests – the gamekeeper Solarski, a 29‑year‑old young Polish patriot. The murder was committed in the Clothes Department, where in the mountains, next to two shelters, there was a forester's lodge. The killings were carried out by «Brawl» from Orów, who, with pitchforks and scythes, circled the gamekeeper's house, wanting to murder the gamekeeper who lived there. Solarski, firing a shotgun at the bandits, defended himself for several hours, until the last round was fired. When the shots ceased, the Ukrainians, cutting out the doors and windows with axes, caught up with the unfortunate man, inflicting a dozen or so wounds with axes and scythes placed «upright». Another gamekeeper, named Balicki, also lived in the forester's lodge with his family. Fortunately, they managed to escape to Borysław earlier. This beautiful holiday village, surrounded by dense forests, was located south of Borysław, about 3 hours' walk. Around the Ciuchowy Department there were villages inhabited by the Ukrainian population (Bojków), who, together with deserters from the SS «Hałyczyna», gathered there and had a gathering point for bandit raids”.
