Excerpt from the situational report of the OUN clerk Stepan Golasz 'Mar' from the Beskid region about the murder of soldiers of the Border Protection Army in Bukowiec:
„On May 18, 1946, 50 soldiers of Army Border Protection WOP from Wołkowyja carried out the displacement operation of the village of Bukowiec for the second time. People who didn't leave hid in the woods. Seeing that there were no people, the Polish Army burnt down 40 houses from the side of the forest. During the operation, they killed 5 men: Ivan Bryndza and Osyp Bryndza for finding ammunition near their houses, Mykhailo Janek and Mykhailo Stanka for not having documents, accusing them of being banders and Dmytr Roman for escaping. Before I shot them, they were hit hard with rifle butts”.
