Myrosław Onyszkewycz „Orest Karat” gave the order: „I order you to purge your area immediately from the Polish element and Ukrainian–Bolshevik agents. The purge should be carried out in riverside hostels sparsely populated by Poles. To this end, create a militia near the area, composed of our members, whose task would be to eliminate the above–mentioned. Our larger hostels will be cleared of this element by our military units even in broad daylight  […] The clearing of the area must be completed before our Easter so that we can celebrate it without Poles. Remember that when the Bolsheviks find us with Poles in our territory, they will slaughter us all  […] Make a hard, ruthless fight with them. Not to spare anyone, even in mixed marriages. To take Lachs out of their houses, but The Ukrainians and children in these houses should not be liquidated  […] Get the gun. Death to the Poles. Stop, April 6, 1944. Glory to the heroes! Orest, Karat” This order is in the files of the investigation against Myroslav Onyshhevych.

Chotylub

Excerpt from Anastazija Hryćko's memoirs about the murder of members of the Polish Republic and NKVD formation against 13 Ukrainians in Chotylub:
After the front left to the west and Polish authorities reigned in the area, peace disappeared in the village. Polish gangs of various provenance, civic militia constantly disturbed the village, robbing and murdering the inhabitants  […] The second misfortune took place on May 15, 1945, when the NKVD came to the village with Poles. On that day, Nastya Oleksiy Hryćko's father died. Many fellow residents were killed then:
1. Hul Tomko,
2. Płaksa Vasyl,
3. Jacuch Mykhailo,
4. Jacuch Iwan,
5. Bohun Theodor,
6. Patryła Iwan,
7. Count Ivan,
8. Pylyp Theodor.
They were serious farmers aged 40‑65. They were not spared and completely young:
1. Jacuch Jewa — 14 years old,
2. Czucharski Stepan — 18 years old,
3. Sucharyna Mykhailo — 17.
Father [Oleksija Hryćka — BH] was shot in front of Nastia, and then they set fire to the barn and the house. The flame engulfed everything around it, the neighboring buildings, it also attacked my father, who was lying nearby, to the barn. Nastia started to pull her father away from the fire, and as she did so, her clothes were on fire. She jumped into the river
