After the fall of Poland in 1939 and the establishment of the Soviet power, we, the inhabitants of the village of Chochoniów, were discriminated against by The local Ukrainians who took control of the local authority. We were assigned the largest grain and meat quotas, we were sent to the forests in the Carpathians to fell and bring trees to the airport construction site. After the Germans entered these areas, a real hell happened for us Poles. The Ukrainians had unlimited power here, especially the Ukrainian police in the German service. We paid the largest taxes, we gave the largest quotas. The Ukrainian police conducted constant searches and interrogated, beaten and tortured many men, and robbed anything of any value during the search.
