On 28th od May the Germans directed the „Kalmyk” Dolla brigade of 4,000 soldiers against the Home Army partisans to the Zamość region. Its trail was marked by the bestial rapes of Polish girls and women, murders, looting and burning farms. Taking advantage of the pacifications made by the Kalmuks, the UPA attacked Polish villages: Chlewiska, Łukawica, Majdan and others.
