Chiniówka

The UPA attacked at 3 am and brutally murdered over 100 Poles. They chased the escapees on horseback and on foot and tortured them before they died. The screams of the victims could be heard in the neighboring villages. The breast of the murdered Rozalia Adaszyńska was sucked by her only surviving 3‑month‑old baby.
They murdered my mother, uncle, uncle and their two sons with knives. With such long knives. You know, here at the market, I once bought such a long, strong knife — as a reminder that they murdered my mother with this one. My mother's name was Rozalia Wierzbicka — she got eight knives in the back.
They ordered everyone to lie down and thus murdered them with knives. Uncle Piotr did not want to lie down, so he would open his belly and he was tired because his guts leaked out. His 15‑year‑old son, Wacek, started to run away, he was shot in the legs, he fell, they jumped up to him and stabbed him with knives once and for all.
The second son, Jan, was a shepherd of cows for 12 years, he was caught together with four other children — their breasts were pierced with bayonets and tied with barbed wire.
The eldest son Marian ran home to warn them to hide, but it was too late. Blood was ankle‑deep. My mom and his mom were still flapping and puffing, and my father was screaming in pain and telling me what it was like. They demanded money and watches, then made them lie on the floor and dealt blows.
Then he took them all and threw them into the pit. There was such a deep pit that we used to store potatoes for the winter — there he threw them into the grave. He covered the pit with my uncle's bed sheet — they pulled a knife over his stomach from top to bottom, that his guts spilled out. But my uncle was still alive until Sunday. He bandaged him and wanted to take him to Mizocz on the cart. But my uncle died on the way. So he took him back to Chiniówka and he threw him into this pit where my mother, his mother and family were so that they would be together. He did not even buried it, left it and escaped to Mizocz himself
”.

The Banderites attacked our Chiniówka at 3:00 in the afternoon. When we were returning home from my in—laws, we met three people from a neighboring village who told us: Turn back, because Chiniówka is no more. She was burned down and many people were murdered. So we turned back soon, and after a few days I went to Mizocz, where those who had rescued from Chiniówka took refuge. And it was only from them that I found out about everything and who was murdered. What I remember: We met three people from a neighboring village who told us: Turn back, because Chiniówka is no more. She was burned down and many people were murdered. So we turned back soon, and after a few days I went to Mizocz, where those who had saved from Chiniówka took refuge. And it was only from them that I found out about everything and who was murdered. What I remember:
— from the second Wierzbicki family — Piotr, he Stanisław and 2 children,
— Władysław Wojciechowski with his son,
— Stanisław Wysocki hacked with an ax,
— the entire Hrynowiecki family:  […] (correction from March 2008 by Aneta Kaczmarek based on an interview with her grandfather Ludwik Hranowicki (formerly Hrynowiecki): Władysław and two children were murdered: Wacław and Stasia, while Franciszka and her son Ludwik escaped, and Marysia a Ukrainian took in who passed her as her daughter).
— Adam Przewłocki were hacked,
— his brother Józef Przewłocki with his wife and 3 children,
— Eliza Przewłocka was tortured, then hanged.
Many people from Czechowski families were murdered:
— Stanisław, his son, sons and 2 children,
— two of his daughters, Leontyna and Bronisława, who were Ukrainian wives. Bronisława was the wife of Petr Przewłocki, a member of the gang, whose grandfather was a Pole. Finally, they were brought to the Ukrainian village of Mosty and murdered there. She died, and he reportedly regained his health and after the war, many people saw him in Poland (under a changed name).
— from the second Czechowski family, Janin and her children.
Many people from the Adaszyński family also died.
— I know that Rozalia Adaszyńska (Roman's wife) and her 3 children were murdered, also others, but I don't know who.
— In the Szpakowski family the following were killed: husband, wife, son and daughter.
From the Naumowicz family:
— Zygfryd was shot by Petr Przewłocki; I saw myself as he led Siegfried under the rifle near my house into the forest. (Where the road led to the village of Kudry). Then I heard shots, and after a few minutes Petro was returning alone. He came to my house, asked for water to drink and asked in Ukrainian for her husband: de gout? I knew him well, he always spoke Polish, he even visited my house a few times, and later he became a thug.
— Florian, s. Aurelego,
— Mieczysław with his wife and children, and
— Bolesław Jarmoliński (s. Paweł and Helena).
Then I learned from people that the bodies of the people mentioned here were slashed and chopped up with axes.
I would like to add a few more information about my family members who died at the hands of the Bandera followers.
— Julian Lewicki from Komaszówka, county Dubno, the father of my cousin, went with his cousin Józef Markowski to the forest to fetch a tree and they were lost. Neither horses, nor wagon, nor people. Only a cap and a handkerchief were found. Marian Wierzbicki, who was an eyewitness to the agony of his father Piotr, Mother Franciszka and my mother Rozalia Wierzbicka) escaped from Chiniówka, taking his wife, two children and his youngest brother, 13‑year‑old Janek. He went with them to Mizocz. Here Janek Wierzbicki and four other children chased the cows to pasture outside the city. The Bandera followers caught them, pierced the children's bellies with knives, strung them on barbed wire and wrapped them around a telegraph pole. And finally they had pecked these poor children with knives. They died in terrible torment. I am 87 years old, I am an old man and I thank God, that it gives me some strength, and above all, memory, because these young people do not know anything and cannot tell about what happened. And many witnesses of Bandera crimes have already passed away to the afterlife, or they are sick and deaf, and they will not write anything
