In mid–February, the UNS resuns (Eng. butchers) visited the house of the Wolanin family in the Tarnoszyn colony, where the farmer's son, Ludwik Wolanin, was married to a Ukrainian woman from Dyniska. They ordered all household members to move as far away from Tarnoszyn. Snow and severe frost kept the Wolanin family home. At the end of February, the resuns (Eng. butchers) visited them again, and then the murders took place. Out of the whole family, only a Ukrainian survived, who was staying with her family in Dyniska that day. The following were brutally murdered: Ludwik Wolanin (age 58), his wife Rozalia (age 55), son Ludwik (age 25), daughter Maria (age 18) and grandson Eugeniusz (age 4).
