My maternal grandmother, Zofia Święcicka (née Kara), was a native Ukrainian by flesh and blood, and I owe everything that is Polish in me to her  […] My six uncles staying overnight in a bunker near Busko were betrayed. One evening, The Ukrainians from the SS approached the bunker and ordered my other uncle to throw a grenade inside. He didn't kill his cousins. He was shot at the entrance. Everyone died in the bunker as well.

Busk

On April 4, together with his gang, together with the „Sołowija” unit organized an attack on Busk, where 9 people were murdered. Then a soldier of the assault battalion, Stanisław Jurdyga, his wife Stefania, their eighteen‑year‑old daughter Jarosław and fourteen‑year‑old son Mieczysław, Marian Mieżwiński, his wife Maria and their children – daughter Julia and seven‑year‑old son Antoni, as well as an elderly woman Julia Kuczyńska died. Kupiak, with his bandits, Olijnyk, Pociłujka, Horbacz and Bogdan Czuczman, first entered the Jurdyg family's apartment and, after the murder, went to Julia Kuczyńska's apartment. Olijnyk shot her twice, because she was still alive, Czuczman killed her. They plundered everything and gave valuable gold things to Kupiak.
Testimony of the witness Falińska Susabowska: „In April 1945, Kupiak's militia murdered the family of Stanisław Jurdyga who lived in Busko at Szaszkiewicza Street. Stanisław Jurdyga, his wife Stefania, daughter Jarosław and son Mieczysław were murdered. Kupiak and Bogdan Czuczman told me about this murder, who boasted that he personally murdered his wife and daughter. I know that Olijnyk, Michał Kupiak, the warlord's brother and other members of his militia also participated in this attack. All property was looted”.
Testimony of the witness Jan Sosnowski: „When we entered Jurdyga's apartment, we saw the bodies of the murdered on the floor, their heads were torn with bullets, and blood was still leaking from their wounds. The bodies of their children, daughter and son were lying on the bed in the other room, the walls were splattered with blood and things were scattered all over the room”…
