August 7, 1943. This week the bandits on Rybakowa Street killed the gamekeeper and left his wife and child. There is no day when such news would not reach us. We are not afraid of bombs as well as the attacks of these terrible bandits.

Uncle Władysław Schnitzer, Jadzia's father, went to Lviv in the fall of 1943 and did not return. Only after the war did we find out that the Bandera followers had captured several Poles, incl. uncle, took him to the forest near Brody and murdered there horribly. They were tied to the trees with barbed wire, and their insides were pulled out and wrapped in the trees. It was reportedly told by an eyewitness, a Ukrainian who was ordered to drive the bandits and victims to the forest by a cart.
