[The Ukrainians] murdered 29 Poles, including were murdered by bulrushes led by Leonid Aleksandruk and Andrej Szejda: gamekeeper Stanisław Lemański, forester Markiewicz and forestry clerk Bronisław Ostrowski, 35, with his son. „According to Mieczysław Kobyłecki's account, in March 1943, Serhiy Kopernik, a Ukrainian, who had a Polish fiancée and 2 brothers belonging to the UPA, warned the inhabitants of the planned attack of the Bandera followers and indicated on which roads there were ambushes for the fleeing population. On March 18, most of the Poles, escorted by 5 members of the Home Army from Janowa Dolina, left in carts to Klewanie in the district of equine. During the night, the nationalists killed the remaining residents (29 people) who did not want to leave the colony”.
