In the village of Smerek, poviat Lesko, during the fight of the Polish Army platoon with the UPA, 2 or 3 soldiers were killed, 2 or 3 were abducted and murdered, while 3 were wounded. The soldiers withdrew to Wetlina, encircled by the UPA. A liaison officer, the Ukrainian whose wife — because she was Polish — and the son for hiding from conscription into the UPA, were murdered by the UPA, brought help.
