Bereżanka

I found on the internet the website of Mr. Stankiewicz (www.stankiewicze.pl/ludobojstwo/tarnopolskie) with lists of victims of the Banderite genocide in this part of Podolia and a map of your authorship with marked towns of the Tarnopol Province, of which there is no data on this subject. As a person born in Bereżanka (on the Zbrucz) district Borszczów (02/01/1944), I was intrigued that my town is listed on this map as „white spot”. So I feel obliged to fill this stain as much as possible. From my mother's stories, I know that we both often sheltered for the night in the town of Skała, 3 km away, where there was a German and later a Soviet military post, and therefore it was a bit safer there. At that time my father was in the war. Well, from the testimony of my parents Anna and Michał Tokar, Permanent residents of the then Berezhanka, who now, despite their old age (father 94, mother 88), thank God, still enjoy relatively good physical health and good memories, I will mention the names of Poles and The Ukrainians killed by Ukrainian nationalists. Those are:
1. Żołyńska Anna (wife of Albina), 40 – 29 September 1944 – Bereżanka
2. Żołyński Bronisław (Anna's brother–in–law), approx. 38 – 9 June 1944 – Bereżanka
3. Harasym Mikołaj (Ukrainian, silrada worker), around 40 – 1945 – Bereżanka
4. NN (Ukrainian – Hucułka, secretary of the silrada) – June 9, 1944 – Bereżanka
There were no more victims in Berezhanka, at least until July 1945, i.e. the time we left there.
