At dawn, the UPA and Ukrainian peasants from neighboring villages, armed with firearms, axes, pitchforks, shovels, murdered about 40 Poles (including parents with 6 children) and wounded about 50, robbed their belongings and burned the village. They took Michał Sokołowski from the wagon, chopped off his head and put it on the bread he was bringing for his family, 8‑year‑old Helena Sztendera was hacked with an ax.
